Supper At The Source

On Sunday, we took the Savor the Mountains experience to the The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES), where we hosted an authentic farm-to-table Family Feast. Nearly 150 people, including the local media, flocked to the verdant grounds of Rock Bottom Ranch to try their hand at harvesting, milling, milking, churning and pressing — all with an end goal of creating a spectacular meal.

Preparing dinner became a social experiment of identifying food sources and connecting with new friends to learn the necessary activities —be it pressing apple cider, whipping cream, milling pizza flour or churning butter—to produce a shareable reward: dinner for all.

Mill to Grill: Guests created pizza from scratch by milling their own grains and preparing sauce from farm-picked tomatoes.

Following dinner in the field, guests were treated to a bonfire with storytelling, guitar music and a full moon.

A special thanks to everyone at ACES and Rock Bottom Ranch for allowing this wonderful day unfold with natural grace.  We can’t wait to do it again.
